A local restaurant chain teamed up with area grade schools and high schools for a fun a promotion using mini footballs. The footballs featured the name of the restaurant, the school name, and a coupon for a free sandwich with a drink purchase. The balls were tossed into the stands at home games, and fans could redeem them for a free sandwich at the restaurants. The payoff was immense. Owners received enough balls back each week that they were able to be re-used at later games. An added benefit was an increase in the general number of patrons to the restaurant. The creative and cost effective giveaway was so popular that is has become an annual promotion.
